Sydney - our last full day in Australia

We can't believe it - eight weeks has flown by, but when we start to reflect we realise we have done and seen so much.

After the emotion and spectacle of the ANZAC Day march past we had just an afternoon left to finish off sightseeing in Sydney.  We walked to Circular Quay as did many of the participants in the march and the near million spectators!

The pubs were humming and the city alive.

We climbed the 200 steps up the south-east pylon of the Harbour Bridge and took some of the photos we couldn't take the day before on the climb.

We relaxed by the Opera House, basking in the warm sunshine drinking cold beer.

This was the largest container ship to have ever visited Sydney - MSC Fabienne - 228 metres long! and it only just went under the bridge.

Sunset Dinner Cruise

We spent our last evening in Australia, taking a cruise around the harbour on this boat.  A lovely meal, nice wine and fabulous sunset.

Epilogue

This was the end of a dream that we had for many years.  To retire, take a long trip to Australia and to do it justice.

Our dream has come true and we are sad that the adventure is nearly over.

We have met so many lovely people and seen so many great sights.

We have met family we've only written to before and unless they move and don't tell us we will be back to see them again!

In the eight weeks we had only one day of rain.  Unseasonally warm weather on the East coast in the latter part of the trip meant that when we expected cooler weather, we were still able to wear light clothes and eat outside each evening.

When the inevitable question is asked 'what did you like best?' we genuinely struggle because virtually every day has been different and each one great in it's own way.

We have seen so much, but are aware that there is still a lot more to be seen.  We are already planning our next visit to fill in the gaps, continue the adventure and share again the great Aussie hospitality and relaxed atmosphere.

an amazing and extraordinary adventure!!!
