after 2 hours, all the swimmers had departed

The first on land were a duo (aged 17 & 19) who  completed the swim in 4hrs 4mins. This was the second year in a row they had won.

Conditions were described as 'poor' with a sizeable swell in the channel.  The race was cancelled last year due to a similar swell.

Saturday night saw us back up at Joondalup at Robbie and Ray’s (we met them last year) for a BBQ to celebrate Robbie’s 40th birthday and their new BBQ/ alfresco kitchen.

The new BBQ/ alfresco kitchen was amazing and Laurie dribbled into it most of the evening.

The Fremantle History Museum is one of Fremantle's most significant landmarks. Built by the convicts in the early 1860's to house the 'insane' it was known as the asylum.

The Museum now showcases the social history and heritage of Fremantle and Western Australia.

St Patrick's Basilica* has been a cultural and spiritual hub for many Irish, Italian and Portuguese migrants for 105 years.

It was built in 1900 and designed by renowned architect Michael Cavanagh.

The basilica is also internationally recognised for its music, being home to two of Australia's finest organs.

*A basilica is a church ordained by the Pope to be of special significance.
