We drive further south towards Melbourne. It's taken us a few days to realise that this section of the Australian coastline is not as spectacular as the others we have travelled. The individual destinations are excellent, but there is less to see in between. Playing 'I Spy' when all you can see is trees for several hours, wears thin after a bit! We have resolved to stick to the highway and 'get there' to enjoy our destinations
Malacoota | ....with it's unusual Visitor Information Centre |
Stoney Creek Trestle Bridge at Nowa Nowa | built in 1916 it's 247m long and 20m high. |
the last train passed across in 1988
Our accommodation for the next two days at: The Moorings | A bit of a mix-up with the booking and we were in one of these nice rooms, but without the lake view we had expected |
A quick word with Jim the proprietor and he delighted us by switching us to one of these top floor apartments with a stunning view. | The sky is a bit grey but we are promised an improvement . This boardwalk runs across the front of the village |
We enjoy lunch on our veranda
He looks cold...it was! We had a great meal here | The 'small' Fisherman's platter was a challenge |
As we came back from our meal, the sun was setting...stunning!
Laurie got up early for some early sun shots of The Moorings
The view from our balcony
Gerald the Pelican gets around!
Laurie surveys the scenery from our balcony
We explore pretty Metung and Bancroft Bay in the now much warmer weather
King Lake ...just across the road from our hotel
