The following are our personal 'photo album'. At the end of the day we 'live' in Freo , rather than holiday. This year we have perfected the art of 'doing nothing', so don't expect too much!
365 Project
Laurie has started a project for 2010 to take and publish a picture every day, so most of his 'good' photos are published there. Take a look.... There are 2 versions... one a pure photographic gallery here, and the another which has the same photographs but in a blog format here. He would welcome any comments on the photos and the two different formats.
30th December 2009 Susan and Charlie have decided to go on a mini cruise on the Athena to bring in the New Year. | We meet up with Mandy and wait for literally hours to wave them off as their departure is delayed |
Susan is in good spirits | ...a wave from Charlie |
Into the setting sun | 31st December It's New Years Eve and we are going to the Sailing Club for a party. Kairen's had to buy a new frock (well there's a surprise!) |
Wendy, Kairen David and Jean bringing in 2010
David and Laurie cook the meals on the DIY BBQ.
2nd January The pretty parrots in our tree have been killed/chased off by a couple of kookaburras. They are really big kingfishers and have nested in the tree. Their laughing call at 5am every morning is such a delight!!
4th January This bizarre picture is of a film crew making a kids TV programme on the dockside. The puppet looks surprised to have that man's hand up his bottom!
5th January ...just a another day on the beach | 7th January Christmas decorations and clear blue sky??? |
8th January It's sooo hot! ...up into the 40's | Isabella and Pam in the courtyard |
9th January Andy and Janine have moved to Toodyay (out in the wilds!). We pay them a visit to see the 'estate' and Kairen is very wary of the infestation of Huntsman spiders (about the size of a side plate) | The flowers around the house are beautiful |
It's hot again! | |
Their dogs Rupert and Tallullah love the 28 acres of space to run in.
Andy and his shed | It's big! |
aaaah! Rupert's brought us a kangaroo bone | Their water supply |
Janine props up the 'Bush Bar'.
it's BBQ time! | |
Jade's arrived | ...and Russell |
Jade's dog...Gracey | Rupert has found somewhere to rest his bottom. |
a great afternoon on the veranda | 10th January It's Sunday afternoon so it must be Little Creatures |
11 January Life at the office..... | Freo Town Hall |
12th January Watching the wind-surfers on the beach is fun | walking out on the Sailing Club Mole |
The kookaburra's catching mice now | 15th January It's Doug's 91st birthday today |
Everyone meets at our house for some bubbly | ..and then it's on to the Esplanade Hotel for lunch |
16th January Roo Paella..yum! | It's so hot, hardly a breath of air and the sea is calm |
just the weather for an ice cream | It's Saturday and the harbour is really quiet..it's just so hot. |
Laurie's not making much noise either. | We go for a BBQ at Liz and Dino's |
17th January Now that's HOT! (the top is outside, the bottom is inside with the air-conditioning on full) | The pretty coffee shop opposite our house |
We Skype our neighbours, The Ellinghams every Sunday | 19th January The apartment/hotel ship The World is due in today, so we go down to the quay to watch her arrive. |
'Laurie no-mates' | |
The ship in the background is dredging out a deeper channel in the harbour. An activity causing a lot of controversy locally due to the pollution it is causing. | The World eventually arrives |
We sat and watched The World go by !!!!
We thought it looked more like a livestock carrier and were quite disappointed. However, a look at the website (allow an hour!) shows that it is incredibly luxurious inside. The top apartments have 150' long balconies. | A Tuesday night visit to Jason, Kim and Lily for a Kulcha fix. |
21st January It's Jean's birthday so we have a meal at our house for the family. (Nicole the WWOOFA on the right)
Liz made the yummy cheesecake. (She tried to take the leftovers home...fat chance!)
22 January An exciting morning. The kookaburra 'chicks' left the nest. They were HUGE, about the size of a small cat! | Having fallen/fluttered down the tree from about 25' 'Kevin' the kookaburra sat in the lower branches of our tree for a couple of hours. We could get very close to him, and he seemed not to have any fear. |
He eventually jumped down and flew in a fashion up into a tree. He sat on a roof all afternoon in the full sun and we were concerned he was dehydrating. The following morning the parents fed them and they all flew off...not to be seen again. The parrots are returning slowly. | 23 January Another hot day and The Strip is very quiet mid-afternoon. |
In fact the whole town has a deserted feel about it | ....time for a smoothie! |
24 January Little Creatures looks inviting | ..hey it's Sunday! |
