It's Rottnest swim again. 2,300 swimmers plus all their support undertake the largest open water swim in the World A 19.2km ocean swim from Cottesloe Beach to Rottnest Island |
We are up at 5am and on the beach by 5.30 |
The first swimmers leave at 05.45 and the preparations are well under way. That's wool fat...yuk! |
The support boats are gathering. There will be 750 in total. |

It's a challenge for the support 'paddlers' to spot and rendezvous with their swimmers so all manner of identification is adopted. The paddlers are not allowed with 500m of the beach and the boats 1km. |

Dictionary.... Budgy Smuggler....Australian slang term for men's tight-fitting Speedo-style swimwear. The 'lump in the front' apparently resembles a budgie when it is stuffed down the front of someone's shorts. Ah, those crazy Aussies!! |
